Scottish Rite Masonic Museum & Library

This Saturday, November 23, the Scottish Rite Masonic Museum & Library will open “Looking Back, Moving Forward: 50 Years of Collecting,” an exploration of how the museum and library’s collection has grown, changed, and helped tell the story of America over half a century.

Items on display include this quilt, stitched in the pastel colors popular in the 1920s and 1930s. This quilt was likely made as a fundraiser by members of the Daughters of Rebekah, a woman’s auxiliary associated with the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, in Temple Hill, Illinois.

From the start, the Scottish Rite Masonic Museum & Library sought out decorative arts and folk art for its collection that demonstrated the ways everyday Americans celebrated both their creativity, and their connections with fraternal groups.

Come visit the museum this Saturday between 9 AM and 4 PM to learn more.
