National First Responders Day

~October 28th~
In 2019, the United States Senate passed a resolution designating October 28th as National First Responders Day to honor the men and women putting their lives on the line.

According to the Department of Homeland Security, 4.6 million career and volunteer first responders support the communities where they live. They are firefighters, police, emergency medical technicians (EMT), paramedics, and 911 operators. In an emergency, they’re the first on the scene. These dedicated professionals answer the call when a crisis arises, often putting their own lives on the line.

To memorialize the 20th anniversary of September 11, 2001, please join the Valley of Nashua on Tues., November 16th as we honor the First Responders / Local Heroes with a dinner at 6:30pm and the program of the evening at 7:30pm.

Challenge Coins will be presented to every First Responder in attendance.
RSVPs can be made at https://www.nhscottishrite.org/heroes.html

We Hope You Can Join Us!

From the Grand Lodge, Free & Accepted Masons of Ohio blog.  Such a momentous day for Freemasonry.
......
On this day in 1792, the cornerstone of the United States White House was laid. Brother George Washington selected the site in the previous year, 1791. Congress commissioned an Irish-born architect, James Hoban, to design the great building. Eight years later, President John Adams and his wife Abigail would move into the still unfinished residence.

In Freemasonry, the cornerstone symbolizes the individual Mason and the sacrifices of labor and time necessary to build a moral and Masonic edifice. The cornerstones of our government buildings have a deep meaning, representing a foundation of honor, reliability, and truth.

Check out our blog on the significance of the cornerstone to learn more: https://bit.ly/3kKSkSN

Brother Thomas R. Eaton was born in 1949 in Keene and was raised in Stoddard, NH. He is New Hampshire businessman and politician who served as a member of and President of the New Hampshire Senate.

Thomas was educated in Stoddard, Keene High School, as well as the New England Institute of Anatomy in Boston, MA.

At the age of seventeen Eaton went to work at the Fletcher Funeral Home in Keene. Over his 34-year career at the Home, Eaton went from being a driver to the Home's president and treasurer. In 2000, after being elected to the New Hampshire Senate, Eaton retired from the Home.

In November 1999 Eaton was elected in a special election for the tenth District of the New Hampshire Senate, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Clesson Blaisdell.  This is the same New Hampshire Senate district that Eaton's father Charles Eaton represented from 1959 to 1962. Senator Eaton was named by NH Business Magazine one of the 10 most influential people 3 years in a row.
