via LinkedIn On August 5, 1884, the cornerstone of the pedestal of the Statue of “Liberty Enlightening the World” was laid by William A. Brodie, Grand Master of Masons in the State of New York. Of all the cornerstones laid with ceremony by Masons the world over, this remains one of the most famous, impressive, and inspirational. In our new article, we journey back to the 19th century to relive this moment. We review the story that led our brethren to the ceremony of that historic day, held alongside international dignitaries, military officers, and distinguished citizens. We hope you enjoy and share with your brethren: #OhioFreemasonry #Freemasonry #StatueofLiberty https://bit.ly/3fvHihu 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Freemasonry, NMJ
... On August 5, 1813, the Supreme Council, 33°, in Charleston, issued the proclamation and charter granting sovereignty to the “Grand and Supreme Council of the Most Puissant Sovereigns, Grand Inspectors General of the 33° for the Northern District and Jurisdiction of the United States of America.” After two centuries of service, we feel like our work is just getting started. Thank you to all our brethren who continue to be active in our communities and support the hard work of the Scottish Rite, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction. We invite you to celebrate our anniversary by journeying back through history and learning about our origins and the amazing story that has unfolded since that August day in 1813. https://srnmj.us/our-history Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, NMJ
On this day in 1753, George Washington was raised a Master Mason at the Masonic Lodge at Fredericksburg, Virginia when he was 21 years old. Brother Washington, through his many courageous acts of leadership, remains an inspiration to us nearly three centuries later.
